Youth ministry is a priority of the Redemptorists in Ireland. We devote time and energy to this work, because it is our conviction that young people are amongst the most vulnerable and abandoned. Sure, there are many forces and entities that pay lots of attention to the young, but behind these forces profit and materialism are often the driving motivation.

Our interest in young people is to extend the hand of friendship, and offer them a vision of life that can bring joy, inner peace and spiritual nourishment. Thus our communities are places that genuinely welcome young people.
We make this vision become a reality through the work of our youth ministry teams based in Scala in Cork, Esker retreat house and youth village, Clonard Monastery in Blefast and Limerick. This is the work that they engage in:
- Providing training to student councils in secondary schools

- Offering different styles of school retreats
- Organising youth leadership training programmes
- Helping to support parishes involve young people at all levels of planning, preparation and participation.
- Planning and leading youth weekends and pilgrimages.
- Running Taize liturgies.
