Finally the programme acknowledges that we can only learn so much from books. There are a wealth of other sources from which we can draw inspiration and wisdom. In recognition of this reality, the Redemptorists encourage students to actively engage in pastoral work and other activities throughout their training, such as:

• Redemptorist students participate in leading school retreats
  
• Work on Redemptorist missions and novenas
  
• Preach the Word of God
  
• Take responsibility for liturgies
  
• Get involved in various pastoral work ranging from hospital/prison work to the Simon Community or Goal.
