Study - The Goals: The principal work of students in Marianella is to study. For most days of the week, six or seven hours are spent between lectures and study. Lectures will be at MITP. These studies are supplemented at home with sessions on Redemptorist history and spirituality, on the Redemptorist Constitutions, and on human and faith development. Students should be able to take quite a personal pride and satisfaction that they, like anyone else, has put in an honest day's work, an honest week's work.

What is the Point of Study?
I study to develop myself, to stretch my mind, to broaden my horizons, to deepen my questions, to enrich myself humanly. There is no real growth or development if a person is not using whatever talents and abilities he has to the fullest extent. Study is also an essential discipline for anyone who wishes to prepare himself to be effective in Redemptorist ministry. What counts in the world today is genuine professional knowledge. It is essential for a minister of the Gospel to have an authentic scientific education. This is a necessary condition for anyone to be suitably prepared for an effective ministry in today's world.
For Redemptorists, a solid preparation helps them to see better what forms of the apostolate are the correct ones in rendering pastoral service to the poor. It is the responsibility of students then to make every effort to get a good solid education, studying honestly and earnestly. Students will have to take exams at Milltown and are expected to pass them.
