FR.DAN BARAGRY

Dan is from Limerick and grew up close to the Redemptorist Monastery in the city.

He also had a family link with the Congregation as his granduncle and great granduncle were both Redemptorists so it came as little surprise when he joined up himself following his Leaving Cert in 1972. Besides his studies in Galway and Dublin Dan spent two years as a student in the Philippines and was ordained in 1981.

His first assignment was to Esker in Co. Galway where he worked with the mission team there giving missions in the west of Ireland. He returned to the Philippines in 1983 and worked there mainly in church and formation ministries until 1989. On his return home Dan was appointed to the community in Dublin (Marianella) as Prefect of Students, a position he held for six years, before moving to Limerick as Rector of the community there, during this period he was very involved in giving missions and retreats as well as his other responsibilities.

In 2002 he moved to Scala in Cork from where he co-ordinated missions in the south of the country.

In September 2008, Dan was re-appointed Director of Formation, in Dublin, and gives occasional parish missions.
