Final Profession and Diaconate for Br Derek Ryan

For Redemptorists in Ireland two recent Sundays were significant days in the life of our Province because we are had the great joy of witnessing a young Redemptorist, Derek Ryan from Enfield, Co. Meath, making a definitive option for the Redemptorist way of life.

On Sunday 22 May Derek made his Perpetual Profession as a Redemptorist.
The ceremony took place at 11.00 o'clock Mass in the chapel at Marianella in Dublin.
We offer Derek our prayers and cordial good wishes on reaching this goal.

A week later on Sunday 29th May Derek took the next step along the path of his vocation when he wass ordained a deacon by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin in Maynooth College.It was a beautiful sunny afternoon when Archbishop Diarmuid Martin ordained seven candidates to Diaconate in the College Chapel at St Patrick's College, Maynooth.

Each candidate went to the Archbishop and knelt before him. The Archbishop placed the Book of the Gospels in the hands of each one, and said:

'Receive the Gospel of Christ,
whose herald you now are.
Believe what you read;
teach what you believe
and practice what you teach'

Then on 4th December 2011,he will be ordained a priest.

We ask you to keep Derek in your prayers at these important moments in his life.
It is our prayer that other young men and those not so young would consider joining our way
of life; we have Good News to proclaim in a world seriously in need of Good News.
